AI Fraud Detection

AI Fraud Detection runs 44 checks over every deal, automatically, whenever a document is read, bank data arrives through open banking, the application is completed or a field is corrected. The checks are deterministic. Names, dates of birth and addresses are compared across ID documents, payslips, bank data and typed answers. Payslip arithmetic and year-to-date figures are recalculated. Employer ABNs are looked up live on the Australian Business Register, and statement BSBs are checked against the BSB directory. Every uploaded file is fingerprinted, so an edited PDF or a document already used on another application is caught. Findings are graded critical, warning or info, and AI writes a plain-English summary of what needs confirming, with a suggested question for the client and a file note. It never labels anyone a fraudster. It shows what was observed and what would settle it.

Key Features

Identity across sources

Name, date of birth and address compared across driver licence, payslips, bank data and typed answers. Licence numbers checked against the issuing state's format, and expired ID flagged.

Payslip maths

Net pay recalculated, year-to-date totals checked for progression, pay periods checked for gaps and repeats, and super checked against the guarantee rate.

Live ABN and BSB lookups

Employer ABN validated and checked on the Australian Business Register for status, name, entity type and registration date. Statement BSBs checked against the BSB directory.

Income against bank data

Each payslip matched to a salary credit in the open banking data, with amount, payer and length of the salary stream compared.

Conduct and funds

Buy now pay later use, recurring payments to undisclosed credit providers, dishonour fees, days in negative, gambling spend and large unexplained deposits flagged from open banking data.

File integrity

Every upload is hashed and its metadata read: PDF editors as producer, modified-before-created dates, repeated saves, stripped metadata, and the same file content turning up on another application.

AI summary, no accusations

A plain-English summary with a recommendation (proceed, confirm with the applicant or obtain source documents), the question to ask and a ready-made file note. The word fraud never appears in a finding.

Resolve with an audit trail

Mark a finding as explained by the applicant, not a real issue, or replaced with a new document. Critical findings notify the deal's assignee and can trigger automations.

What happens on a live deal

A client finishes onboarding through the portal. Within a couple of minutes the checks have run against the driver licence, the payslips and the connected bank data, and the deal picks up a red strip: two checks need attention before the application proceeds. The date of birth on the licence does not match the one typed in the application, and the back of the licence has identical file content to a document on another application. The AI summary explains both in plain English, recommends obtaining source documents and drafts the question to ask. You send it, the client uploads a fresh scan, the checks rerun and the strip clears.

  • Runs automatically when documents are read, bank data arrives, onboarding completes or a field is corrected, or rerun with one click
  • Red strip on the deal and a badge on the AI tab for critical findings, plus a badge on each affected document
  • Sidebar summary of what needs attention, what passed and what could not run
  • Ask Lend1 AI what needs confirming on any deal
  • Checks pause on won and lost deals, and existing findings are kept

Included on every plan

AI Fraud Detection is included on Starter, Pro and Enterprise. The 44 checks and the file fingerprinting are deterministic code and use no AI credits at all. Only the plain-English summary draws on your monthly credits, and it is treated as a core feature, so it keeps running even if your allowance is used up. Admins switch the checks on or off for the firm in Settings, with a separate switch for the AI summary. Two permissions control who can see findings and who can resolve them, so a compliance role can review every deal without editing rights.

  • Included on Starter, Pro and Enterprise
  • Checks use no AI credits, only the summary is metered
  • Firm-wide on and off switch, plus a separate switch for the AI summary
  • View and Resolve permissions, included in the default Broker and Support roles
  • Runs onshore on AWS in Sydney, like the rest of Lend1 AI
